STATE BAND COMPETITION & BAND BOOSTER UPDATES

This Saturday, the Cat Band will travel to Spring Valley HS to compete in the SCBDA 4-A State Marching Championships.  Click HERE for the itinerary for Saturday’s competition.

Hospitality will meet in the cafeteria on Saturday at 1:30. We will prepare to serve the band meal at 3:30 before they travel to Spring Valley High School.  We will serve BBQ sandwiches, corn and green beans and banana pudding for dessert. We will need to set up tables, make drinks, prepare a salad for vegetarians and also prepare snacks to serve after the band performs.  Please come and help if you are available.

Spirit Trail

The buses will travel down Olde Farm Road to Rawl Road and then onto Longs Pond Road to I20.

We will be looking for families to line up anywhere along that route to cheer the students and buses on the way to State Finals.  There are plenty of  Lots to park and wave your signs and cheer your students on their way!  We hope to give them a great send off on Saturday!

We have signs available for your use.  Please see Andrea Thomason at Thursday’s Stadium Practice or Saturday at Call time to collect your signs.

Uniforms

These last couple weeks have been so exciting!  Surprisingly, with our winter concert less then 6 weeks away, we have to start planning for concert wear distribution.

The following dates have been set for students to be fitted for their concert attire:

Wed Nov 2 – Boys who need a tux shirt ( Freshmen, new band members, and old members who need a new shirt )
Mon Nov 7 – Seniors & Juniors
Wed Nov 9 – Sophomores
Mon Nov 14 –  Freshmen Girls

Tux Shirt Info
On Nov 2, our bridal rep, Cindy will be in to measure the guys.  She will order the shirts and they will be delivered in about 2 to 3 weeks.  This shirt belongs to the students and can be worn for their entire band career at LHS.  Payment of $25 is due the day of the fitting and can be paid with cash or check made out to LHSBB.

Boys’ Attire consists of a jacket, pants, bow tie and cummerbund.  They will also receive a garment bag.  Boys must wear their owe pair of black dress shoes, or their dinkles, and a pair of calf-length, black socks.

Girls’ Attire consists of a palazzo pant, a blouse, and a pearl necklace. They will also receive a garment bag. Girls must wear their own pair of close-toed, black dress shoes. (not too high please)

Concert wear is the property by the Band Boosters and you will be asked to professionally clean and return attire at the end of the school year.  Cool irons are recommended, especially for the girls’ pants.

The Uniform Committee is looking for volunteers to assist with the distribution which takes place after school in the band room.  Please email, call, or text me if you’re interested.
